BuckStalker Quick Start

Here are some tips to help you get the most out of BuckStalker right from the beginning:

The trial version comes with a sample hunting area already set up with pictures so you can see how everything works.  Play around in the sample area until you're comfortable with how the screens work, then make your own hunting area so you can start collecting your own pics.

To make a new Hunting Area:

Click the "Hunting Area" menu, and pick "New" from the sub-menu that pops up.

Answer the questions on each of the screens, and press "Next" when you're done.  If you make a mistake, or you forget something from before, you can hit the "Back" button to go back to the earlier screens.

If you decide to use the free topographic map and satellite photos, remember that it's a lot faster if you start by putting in the GPS coordinates that correspond roughly to the center of your hunting area.

Adding a Camera to Your Hunting Area

Once you've created the hunting area, add a camera by clicking the camera button on the right side of the screen and then clicking on your map where you want the camera to be.

Give the camera a name, something that makes it easy to remember where the camera was placed.

Getting Your Pictures Into BuckStalker

When you're ready to get your pictures, just put your memory card in the computer, and click 'Get Pics'.  BuckStalker will tell you how many new pics are on the card, and you can decide whether you want to Import them or not.

After you click 'Import', BuckStalker will copy all of the new pics onto your computer, and then it will bring up the Photo Import screen.

"Tag" your pics by clicking on the "Buck", "Doe", "Unknown Deer" and "Fawn" buttons to indicate how many of each type of deer are in the pictures.  If you make a mistake, you can use the minus button to remove a tag.
